Our product base is wide and includes commercial steel construction, miscellaneous metal Fabrication, Animal Containment for the Zoo Industry and Manufacturing of Mechanical Equipment.
We are currently seeking a Plant/Shop Manager to help manage day-to-day operations in our growing business.
Responsibilities Include:
Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations of a 30,000 sq ft high bay facility.
Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.
Attend weekly meetings with management to assure production schedules are established and met.
Coordinate work between 1st and 2nd shifts.
Scheduling work for employees based on their level of fabrication skill.
Overseeing all shop employees and their work schedules, including:
welders, fabricators, machinists, machine operators, and shipping and receiving personnel.
Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards.
This includes developing KPI data to find places of waste or overtime, while maintaining quality standards.
Oversee plant safety, including improving and enforcing plant safety procedures.
Oversight of proper machine operation and their required periodic maintenance.
Fostering a trusting relationship with employees and overseeing employee recruiting, developing, and supervision.
Stay up to date with latest production, quality and safety practices and concepts Requirements and skills An Associates Degree with a strong management history in the steel fabrication industry.
Preference given to those with a BS degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Plant/Shop Manager, managing 15 or more employees and their scheduling.
Ability to read and understand blueprints/CAD drawings for steel fabrication.
Knowledge of structural steel fabrication quality standards, including AWS and AISC standards Knowledge of OSHA and Workers Compensation safety standards and requirements Experience and knowledge in operating steel fabrication equipment including Shear, Press Brake, Ironworker, Vertical & Horizontal Saws.
Knowledge in different types of metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Be knowledgeable of plant processes and productivity metrics Proficient with MS Excel Leader mentality, with the ability to create accountability and to lead by example Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills Ability to work and spend the majority of their time in a shop environment.
Willing to work or relocate to work in Waterville, OH Must be able to pass an initial 12 panel DOT drug test and work in a drug free workplace.

Relocation costs will be addressed based on the circumstances of candidate's location.
Salary of $80,000 to $100,000 a year based on experience as a plant/shop manager.
Expectation of working between 45-55 hours a week based on shop schedule.
